One of the most critically and commercially successful entries in the venerable science fiction franchise, Star Trek IV saw the film series opt for a more light-hearted adventure with an underlying social conscious message against whaling after the darker, apocalyptic intensity of The Search for Spock. What resulted was a comedic romp through San Francisco in 1986 with the crew trying to save the future but having a good time while doing it.
