Geek Out Commentary: Superman - The Movie

The countdown to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice continues with the gang recording a commentary for the landmark superhero flick Superman: The Movie. Comic book adaptations had carried the baggage of being too campy and director Richard Donner sought to reverse all that with Christopher Reeve's first iconic outing as the Man of Steel. Listen as the gang sees how well the film ages, what they still love about it, and what they...maybe not love as much as they used to! Strap yourselves in, this is where the Superman movies get good (For awhile, anyway)!

Sam and Jake's Beatles podcast miniseries continues with a look at the Fab Four's fourth album, Beatles for Sale! Often lost in the shuffle, Beatles for Sale was the product of a band exhausted after two years of nonstop recording, touring, and making public appearances. While the early influences of Bob Dylan on John Lennon are felt, as well as the band's love of folk rock and western music, Sam and Jake look at the album as a bit of a step back for the band. Listen as the duo go track by track citing where they feel the album succeeds and where it falters.

The boys are back with another interview talking to the team of the Image Comics series REVIVAL, Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash, Grayson) and Mike Norton (Battlepug/Green Arrow)! The duo talk about what inspires the rural noir with horror undertones (And overtones!), what to expect in the coming arc, and how much Twin Peaks they've watched! Also, Mike geeks out about Star Wars, Tim geeks out about horror, Tim talks Grayson, and shares a bit of insight on the potential for an adaptation of Hack/Slash for the big (Or small) screen. Plus, the gang talks about the latest films they've watched from Daddy's Home to Brooklyn to Ip Man 3!

Geek Out Commentary: Superman and the Mole Men

Well, we've already done commentaries for the all the theatrically released Batman feature films, so now, as a countdown to the release of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, we're doing commentaries for all of Superman's! While most folks assume Superman's theatrical feature film history started with Christopher Reeve, it was actually started two decades before with George Reeves as the first feature film Man of Steel in Superman and the Mole Men. Released as a backdoor pilot for The Adventures of Superman television series and as a means to recoup production costs, Superman and the Mole Men really is just a longer episode of the series that it launched (And aired as such shortly thereafter), but hey, we did Star Wars: The Clone Wars and that was pretty much the same deal (We are completionists, after all). So sit back and watch and listen along as we revisit Superman and the Mole Men!
