The duo look back on the trilogy as a whole and talk about how everything builds to this final miniseries from Jordan's writing to Moore's art style. After a brief holiday interlude, the celebration of 50 years of Star Trek and countdown to Star Trek Beyond resumes with Star Trek Generations! The first cinematic outing featuring the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the seventh Star Trek film began production while the The Next Generation was winding down and featured several cast members from The Original Series to help hand off the baton to the new guys. In what shapes up to be the shortest episode of Deconstructing The Beatles, Sam and Jake talk about the original tracks on the soundtrack album for the Fab Four's animated film, Yellow Submarine...all four of them. Contractually obligated to include four brand-new songs, The Beatles provided the record label with four songs before leaving to study Transcendental Meditation in India in what would ultimately become their final extended period of the camaraderie and unity that had defined their early rapport. This week, Sam and Jake talk about the debut issues of the new Dark Horse Comics series Bounty by Kurtis Wiebe and Mindy Lee. Wiebe is currently best known for his Image Comics fantasy series Rat Queens so the duo compare this bubblegum-pop sci fi tale with his swords and sorcery epic; a book with eye-catching visuals aided largely by colorist Leonardo Olea.

We're taking a quick interlude from Star Trek commentaries to help ring in our nation's Independence Day with a commentary for...Independence Day! Will Smith's star-making summer blockbuster turns 20 this year and, with a sequel currently in theaters and Independence Day falling on a Monday this year, it all just seemed too good an opportunity to pass up!
